| mitchell shernoff was born and raised in the hills and suburbs of southern california. after a growth spurt and general teen awkwardness, mitchell graduated with a bfa from the university of california santa barbara, where he was a core member of the honors program concentrating on painting and printmaking. after living, working and showing his artwork in los angeles for a brief period, mitchell emigrated to eastern europe to assume duties as head designer of a new graphic arts firm in tallinn, estonia. after several years in europe, with his commercial art credits firmly established, mitchell longed for the smog and traffic of his native california. he was repatriated, without incident, by u.s. customs authorities in 2002. yet, it was only a matter of time before the cafés and culture of europe influenced the voices in mitchell's head and told him to try his hand in western europe. still enjoying the canals and love of the color orange, mitchell currently lives and works in amsterdam, and wonders if writing about himself in the third person is simply wrong. |
